After filing a federal crime complaint, the Laceys claimed Bitcoin Depot only sent them two $1,000 refund checks, which didn't cover the fees.

As a result of this event, Karen Lacey had to begin working again, even though she was previously retired. The lawsuit demands punitive damages, injunctive relief and attorney's fees.

Bitcoin Depot recently filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, citing regulatory and business challenges.
