ATM use rising in Pakistan

The State Bank of Pakistan released its Payment Systems Quarterly Review for the 3rd Quarter of fiscal year 2012 on Tuesday. The report showed a marked rise in the number of ATM and electronic transactions.
A report by The News Tribe revealed a number of interesting trends in Pakistan. Among them:
- The total numbers of ATMs in the country stands at 5,612.
- Year-over-year, the number of ATMs in Pakistan increased by 13 percent, with 203 terminals added in the banking industry overall.
- Year-over-year, total ATM transactions increased 5.6 percent; transaction value increased by 8.6 percent.
- The average value per ATM transaction is Rs9,828 ($105).
- The share of all e-banking transactions that are ATM transactions: approximately 60 percent by volume; 6 percent by value.
- From Q2 to Q3, the number of plastic cards in circulation increased by 9.47 percent to a total of 16.7 million active cards.
