New ATM software lets FIs create a branded omnichannel user experience

Open, Web-based software architecture allows the coexistence of traditional functions and switch-independent business services in Wincor's ProFlex4 solution.

December 2, 2014

Wincor Nixdorf has announced the introduction of its new ProFlex4 ATM software, which facilitates a host of new functions at ATMs and other self-service systems, creating an omnichannel user experience, a company press release said.

The new solution enables the production of individual user interfaces for ATMs, cash recycling systems, intelligent deposit systems and kiosk terminals from different manufacturers on the basis of the latest browser technologies.

ProFlex4 incorporates on-screen swipe and drag-and-drop capability that consumers have come to expect from all touch screen devices, the company said. Also, it readily accommodates new service concepts — such as cash withdrawals using a smartphone, and personalized user interfaces.

Additionally, banks can use the solution to add up-to-date new offers to their ATMs and design individual user interfaces — either in-house or through the company's software and professional services team.

ProFlex4 also lets the accountholder customize their own ATM user interface according: The touch display of the ATM will allow the user to change the size, color and layout of the functional elements on the screen.

Customers who often deposit checks, for instance, can use touch and swipe to set up the menu for this function on their personal start screens, allowing them to move directly to this preferred transaction.

Open, Web-based software architecture allows the coexistence of traditional functions and switch-independent business services in ProFlex4. This enables independence from screen or download limitations, as well as the use of additional services and functions while reducing the bank's network costs, the Wincor release said.

Standard transactions such as cash withdrawals can be handled as in the past using the familiar NDC or DDC host protocols while new functions are processed via Web services, the company said.

"ProFlex4 makes banks more independent of IT infrastructures and allows them to introduce innovative services more quickly to ensure a seamless omnichannel customer experience," said Wincor Nixdorf Vice President of Software Solutions Stefan Wahle. "That's what we mean by 'omni. easy. open.'"
