What to do when you drop off your child at school and then run out of gas — without one thin dime in the pocket of the bathrobe you threw on before charging out of the house?
This and other real-life dilemmas provide the content for a new animated video from the ATM Industry Association that premiered at last week's 2015 ATMIA US Conference and Expo at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
"Cash Always Works" relates 10 true (and embarrassing and heartwarming and cautionary) stories that underscore the importance of cash — whether from one's own wallet or that of a Good Samaritan passing by.
"We should all carry backup cash, since cash always works everywhere, every time." ATMIA CEO Mike Lee said in a statement accompanying the release of the five-minute video. "These 10 true stories show that cash is a universal form of money that never lets us down."
ATMIA's ATM Cash Council commissioned the video, which was produced by Networld Media Group. The presentation employs a "white board" animation style to illustrate the top 10 personal experiences with (and without) cash, which were selected in an ATMIA-sponsored competition that solicited members' real-life stories.
Lee thanked Networld for the animated production, and also gave a nod to MoneyPass Network for entries they shared from an earlier "Caught without Cash" campaign.
"Cash Always Works" is the fourth video entry in an ATMIA social media campaign that seeks to dispel myths and promote a better understanding of the importance of cash around the world. Other titles include "Cash is Queen," "Cash Lives," and "Cash Connects Us."
"Cash distribution and dispensing is still the most popular and main service provided by ATMs around the world," Lee said. "While some associations claim to represent the ATM industry but do absolutely nothing in the war against cash being waged by card schemes with very deep pockets, ATMIA [steps in] and really makes a difference in fighting for cash.”
