DUBAI, UAE -- American Express says it has reached an agreement with the UAE Central Bank that will allow its cardholders to conduct cash transactions at all 800 or so ATMs in the UAE.
"With our customer base growing by the day, we want to ensure that our card members not only receive a large number of benefits, but most importantly efficient customer service," said Rasool Hujair, UAE country manager for American Express.
In 2001, the company launched "Blue from American Express," the first local currency denominated credit card, and more recently launched the Dubai Duty Free American Express Credit Card, its first co-branded card in the region.
According to Hujair, the number of establishments accepting the company's cards in the Middle East and North African region increased by more than 50 per cent in 2001.
Operating in 19 markets, Amex (Middle East) E.C. ("AEME") is a joint venture company owned by Mawarid Investment Limited and American Express.
