Barclays revolutionized the banking industry by the deployment of 512 self-service kiosks at its branches across the UK. The kiosk project involved a number of industry ‘firsts’ - bringing all the functionality of internet banking into the branch, and giving customers a whole new method of interacting with their bank. The kiosks have proved very popular with Barclays employees – by reducing the number of over-the-counter transactions, they lighten the burden of basic account administration for the staff so that they can concentrate on customer service and sales contacts.
