The dizzying array of ATM service providers is sometimes more a bane than a boon to consumers. Very little about ATM kiosks' exteriors are standardized, which leads only to confusion when trying to find a machine.

Enter the official international ATM pictogram, which has been designed to convey a universal message in a highly visible format.

The pictogram has been successfully field-tested in the United Kingdom, Iran and Korea and approved by over 75 percent of the International Organization for Standardization. The design clearly conveys an ATM's location and services, but sometimes the symbol needs further modifications for maximal clarity. As such, ATMIA permits certain modifications to the design.
