Dublin-based Acquirer Systems, a provider of test and validation solutions for the payments industry, has released a new industry white paper targeted to merchant acquires and card issuers. The paper, "Are You Ready for Switch Migration?" offers a guide to navigating a successful migration.
Consumer demand for instant payment and the rise of online and mobile channels are changing the world of payments. In a news release, Acquirer Systems pointed out that larger payment volumes and added payment options are compelling companies to leave behind legacy switch platforms, including the dominant BASE-24 platform, in order to meet demand.
“Time is running out for legacy switch platforms, but migration is a complex challenge, often described as the payments industry’s equivalent of a heart transplant,” said Aidan Corcoran, CTO of Acquirer Systems.
A merchant's payment acceptance capabilities are at risk during the course of a migration project, the company said. So it is incumbent upon the switch deployer to make sure the process is seamless and smooth for both merchant and customer.
The white paper draws from Acquirer Systems' experience to provide a detailed guide on switch migration planning, the critical role of test and validation, and principles for a successful migration.
