Wincor Nixdorf has won a seven-year contract to provide central operations management of IT infrastructure for Norddeutsche Landesbank. The agreement, which has a total value of more than 150 million euros ($196 million) takes effect in July 2013.
As an outsourcing partner Wincor Nixdorf will manage a significant portion of IT operations at NORD/LB. The company will provide services for two NORD/LB data centers, 400 server systems and 7,000 workstation systems, including software installation and and updates. In addition, Wincor will operate 200 databases, the network and all communications equipment, and will provide a user help desk serving NORD/LB staff.
Initially, the company will take over operational support of the bank's existing IT infrastructure. From there, it will transfer central infrastructure components to its own data centers, where it will optimize technologies and IT processes on an ongoing basis to ensure continuously efficient operations.
"By commissioning Wincor Nixdorf, NORD/LB will not only achieve more flexibility and a significant reduction in its IT costs as part of its 'more provider strategy', but also optimize its IT architecture in the long term and at the same time take account of technological development," said Richard Arnold, head of IT operations at NORD/LB.
Richard Schlauri, vice president of global outsourcing and managed services at Wincor Nixdorf, said the agreement solidifies the company's standing as a provider of solution expertise in the banking sector. "With this new order we are continuing to expand our IT services business to become a recognized specialist for the management of complex IT outsourcing projects," he said.
