Following a successful pilot test, AtaBank OJSC, one of the largest commercial banks in Azerbaijan, has begun "AtaMatik" mobile ATM service in the country's Shamkir region. The service provides banking services to social workers, teachers, government employees and ordinary citizens living in remote areas.

According to an AtaBank news release, AtaMatik is not limited just to ATM functionalities; the mobile ATM vehicles are accompanied by bank employees and equipped with everything needed for customers to carry out all banking transactions in the vehicle.

"The main objective of the project is providing banking services in the regions, where there are no ATMs," said AtaBank director of business development department at Elnur Osmanov. "Special vehicles having strict safety measures and ATMs installed in it were ordered to meet the need. The vehicles are provided with generators for uninterrupted power supply and lighting and with other necessary devices for easier use of the service".

Currently AtaBank operates a fleet of four AtaMatik mobile ATMs. In addition to Shamkir, the bank plans to extend service to remote villages in the Gazakh, Tovuz and Gadabay regions.
