ICC Solutions Ltd., a payment industry source for EMV test tools and certification services, has joined the new EMV Migration Forum, a collaborative body formed by the Smart Card Alliance to support the U.S. migration to EMV chip cards.
"Having worked closely with the Canadian and UK migration EMV programs, we know first hand the technology challenges involved with completing the migration to EMV in the United States in a timely manner," said Dave Maisey, CEO at ICC Solutions Ltd. "The EMV Forum, under the guidance of the Smartcard Alliance, is perfectly positioned to foster the type of cooperation that will be required of all payments industry stakeholders to make this migration succeed."
Compared to the older magnetic stripe standard, EMV is a complex process that will require more time, careful planning and technical resources to meet liability shift deadlines set by the card brands American Express, Discover, MasterCard and VISA. The first deadline is April 2013.
