Waltham, Mass.-based Security Management Partners (SMP), an independent information security consulting firm, has announced its certification as a Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) for the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS).
To achieve certification, SMP fulfilled rigorous testing and training requirements of the Payment Card Industry Security Standards Council. The company is now one of a preferred group of providers qualified to assess any organization's compliance to the PCI DSS standards.
SMP President, James P. Achille, said, "Members, merchants and service providers who do not adhere to the PCI DSS are at significant risk of losing processing privileges or incurring substantial fines for each infraction — up to $500,000 per incident.
