The ATM Industry Association today announced that author Stephen J. Dubner will be the keynote speaker at the group's 14th annual conference. The conference will be held from February 19–21 in Scottsdale, Ariz.
Dubner and economist Steven D. Levitt co-authored the ground-breaking best-seller, "Freakonomics" in 2005, and its 2009 sequel, "SuperFreakonomics." Both books mine the hidden incentives and economics that drive — or derive from — people's everyday decisions.
By drawing the line from sociology to economics and back again, Dubner's keynote presentation will demonstrate how peeling away assumptions and myths can lead to innovative thinking.
The keynote topic reflects the ATMIA USA 2013 theme of innovation, as the industry seeks to draw out its roadmap to the future of multi-channel payments in America.
Presentations and workshops will cover current challenges and developments in the U.S. ATM industry, including EMV migration, regulatory developments, differential surcharging and advances in ATM technologies. As in previous years, the conference will also include an exhibit hall where manufacturers and others will present their latest products and services.
