Bank Mandiri of Jakarta, Indonesia, recently switched on its 10,000th ATM. But it has no intention of stopping there.
The bank has plans to continue to expand its ATM network throughout Indonesia as part of an effort to enhance its electronic service base. A story at 4-Traders said that the bank intends to add another 500 machines to its system by year-end.
The ATM network expansion not only facilitated customers' financial transactions, but also strengthened Bank Mandiri's effort to become the leading bank in Indonesia in terms of transaction volume, said CEO Zulkifli Zaini.
"The expansion of this network will encourage growth in the volume of customer transactions conducted using Bank Mandiri's electronic network, which in turn will help improve transaction efficiency," Zulkifili said in the article. "We expect that thanks to this, Bank Mandiri's goal of becoming the No. 1 bank in Indonesia in terms of transaction volume can be achieved."
From Jan. 1 through April 30 of this year, Bank Mandiri achieved a 20 percent increase in transaction volume over the previous year, carrying out a record 252 million ATM transactions.
