Encore Networks, a provider of M2M solutions for fixed and wireless communications, today announced that ATM distributor and service provider Automated Financial LLC has selected Encore's C2C router for migration of its ATM payment processing from POTS to cellular service.
The C2C replaces POTS lines with a secure cellular architecture in a small footprint that's ideal for ATM applications that often present space constraints. The unit is available in both commercial and rugged temperature-hardened units and operates on a wide range of AC or DC power sources over public or private cellular service.
Steve Allard, president of Automated Financial, said that the company chose Encore's C2C for its "simple, single-box solution." Also important were the available security protocols and the fact that it would integrate with Automated's existing systems without reconfiguration.
"We also liked the C2C's support of IPsec," Allard said. "This form of connection persists over time, unlike SSL which requires frequent connection requests to the cell tower on the TCP/IP protocol. A constant connection, using IPsec, is important in high traffic areas such as stadiums during professional sports events or concerts because it minimizes transaction time by eliminating connection delays and avoids getting 'locked out' by other devices."
