By 2015, ATM deployers may find themselves working even harder to maintain their ATM transaction numbers. By then, bank customers will mainly use digital systems to manage their accounts says a news report at Bloomberg.com. Citing a PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP study, the report states that younger consumers will drive demand for mobile and computer platforms.

PwC interviewed more than 3,000 banking customers globally for the study and found that customers would be willing to pay up to 10 pounds ($15.29) per month for digital banking services. Social media notifications, electronically-protected loyalty cards and tailored financial services were popular draws for customers in their teens and twenties.

“Banks are clearly missing a trick if they donʼt start to invest in their digital offerings and only see digital as a way to reduce costs,” Stephen Whitehouse, a PwC partner, said in a statement. “The majority of banks still only provide basic mobile and Internet banking services.”

It's the authors of the report who are missing the trick. "ATM transactions" are mainly cash withdrawals, so unless debit card cashback via EFTPOS at retailers is introduced (which is not happening), ATM transactions are not going to fall.
