Sri Lanka's Commercial Bank of Ceylon Monday announced that it has connected its milestone 500th ATM. This landmark was reached with the opening of an ATM at Maradana Railway Station.
Commercial Bank's ATM network has grown rapidly, adding 100 terminals in the past five months.
On average, the bank's ATM network dispenses approximately Rs 600 million daily, the highest volume by a cash dispensing facility in Sri Lanka, and processes on average 140,000 transactions a day, according to a company statement.
"Our transaction figures speak for themselves," Muttiah said. "They prove that the Commercial Bank's ATM network plays an important part in the lives of the citizens of the country, and are also testimony to the reliability of the equipment and the high quality of our maintenance."
In addition to facilitating withdrawals, the machines offer utility and other bill payment functions. Commercial Bank teller machines are installed at 213 branches, as well as at 100 off-site locations.
