Commonwealth Bank of Australia today announced it will upgrade its entire ATM fleet with EMV-enabled machines from Wincor Nixdorf.
According to a press release, the bank will be the first in Australia to rollout ATMs that meet the new EMV (Europay, MasterCard and Visa) standard for chip-enabled cards. The ATMs will also include a range of new features to combat security threats, including card skimming.
The ATMs will be equipped with deposit automation functionality at selected branches, allowing customers to deposit cash and checks.
All new ATMs will have audio support for vision impaired customers, and users will also be able to personalize settings on the ATMs, including a choice of six foreign languages. In addition, should an ATM be out of service, a locator tool will indicate the location of the nearest working machine.
"This roll out of upgraded ATMs is a testament to our continued commitment to improving and enhancing the banking experience for our 10 million customers," said Ross McEwan, group executive, Retail Banking Services, Commonwealth Bank.
Commonwealth Bank Group has more than 4,100 machines across Australia.
