According to STLToday.com, the co-planner of the $6.6 million robbery of ATM sales and service company ATM Solutions was sentenced this week to more than 26 years in prison for his part in the crime.
Though not present during the actual commission of the robbery in August 2010, Myron J. Kimble, 23, admitted to being present when one of the admitted robbers discussed the crime. Kimble also admitted to helping with planning details of the robbery as well as helping the robbers conduct surveillance of the building. For his part in planning the robbery Kimble received approximately $50,000 to $55,000 from the proceeds of the crime.
The defense had requested a reduced sentence for Kimble, but U.S. District Judge Catherine Perry said the sentence was appropriate.
"When you have a crime like this involving such a violent act like kidnapping and flight and using a firearm, a severe sentence is warranted," Perry said.
According to the STLToday.com article, Kimble is the third person involved in the ATM Solutions robbery to be sentenced. John Wesley Jones, 37, is serving 32 years for his part in the robbery while Ryechine Money, 33, is serving 19 1/2 years. Another suspect, Larry R. Newman, 20, awaits sentencing.
The article says that several other suspects have been charged for their parts in planning the robbery or hiding the stolen money. The story notes that approximately $3 million of the stolen money is still missing.
