The Charlotte Observer reports that the Charlotte/Douglas International Airport may accept Bank of America's bid to place its ATMs in the airport exclusively.
Aviation Director Jerry Orr said the proposed deal would get the airport at least $1.3 million a year from Bank of America, about five times the amount the airport receives under its current arrangement with four banks.
The deal would conceivably impose fees to non-BofA customers.
"There could be a downside," Orr said.
Orr said if the airport chooses to move forward with the BofA deal, then concessions or restrictions would be negotiated.
Bank of America also has exclusive ATM airport contracts with Los Angeles and Philadelphia international airports. BofA spokesperson Tara Burke said standard fees apply for non-bank customers at those airports.
Fifth Third was the only other bank to make an exclusive bid, and Orr said it was "considerably less" than the Bank of America offer.
