The ATM Industry Association (ATMIA), a global non-profit trade association, and Tremont Capital Group, a consulting firm specializing in the ATM industry, have published a comprehensive guide to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) for the ATM industry.
The guide explains the regulations that go into effect in March 2012 and was designed primarily for IADs, but is relevant for financial institutions, manufacturers and all other vendors to the ATM industry, according to a press release.
The analysis, conducted by Tremont Capital Group’s CEO Sam M. Ditzion, includes an overview of the ADA and how it applies to ATMs; a description of key dates; a discussion of “safe harbor,” “undue burden” and “undue hardship;” a discussion regarding who enforces the ADA and how it is enforced; and an overview of who is responsible if ATMs are not compliant, among other topics.
