The ATM Industry Association Europe will hold its inaugural forum on ATM innovation and accessibility April 12 in Barcelona, Spain.
"ATMIA Europe is bringing together regulators, standard setting bodies, accessibility experts, banks, ATM manufacturers and service providers to address the issue of accessibility to ATMs," said Flora Hamilton, executive director of ATMIA Europe.
"With the European Commission's mandate for a European standard on eAccessibility for ATMs and self-service terminals now underway, the issue of accessibility will become a major issue for the European ATM industry in the coming years," Hamilton said. "It will have an impact on both ATM operators and their suppliers."
Some of the forum's topics will include: integration of people with disabilities, key challenges for developing accessibility in ATMs and kiosks, and an insight into Americans with Disabilities Act. The speaker program also will include case studies from European banks and insights on the key changes the industry faces from a hardware and a software perspective.
The conference, which is being held at the Fira Palace Hotel, is sponsored by la Caixa of Spain, a savings bank with nearly 8,000 ATMs.
