The ATM Industry Association yesterday announced the winners of its 2010 Outstanding Service Awards in the United States. Two of the five winners are employed by Cardtronics Inc., the Houston-based ATM independent sales organization.
The U.S. regional board and association staff selected the winners. The winners are Mike Keller of Cardtronics, Susan Matt of ThoughtKey Inc., Haze Lancaster of ATM USA LLC, Jorge Fernandez of Cardtronics and Sam Ditzion of Tremont Capital Group.
The board selected Keller for his leadership of the association's Government Relations Committee in successfully addressing the important issues raised by Congress during creation of the Dodds-Frank law.
Susan Matt of Atlanta-based ThoughtKey was chosen for spearheading the campaign of the Industry Relations Team of ATMIA to meet with U.S. networks to discuss the future of interchange and how to improve long-term communication structures between independent ATM deployers and networks.

Lancaster of ATM USA in Morrisville, N.C., was selected for his chairmanship of the IAD/ISO committee of ATMIA during a time of unprecedented challenges on the regulatory and interchange fronts.
Committee members chose Fernandez for leading the collective efforts to getting the threatening bill HR 1302 in Puerto Rico sent back to the drawing board by the U.S. Senate with an intelligent and forceful campaign culminating in successful presentations at a Senate public hearing. His work resulted in widespread media coverage.
Ditzion was selected for providing intellectual leadership through influential and telling industry white papers, which presented the independent ATM deployer business model in a positive light that highlighted the disadvantages of reducing the footprint of convenience ATMs in America. Tremont Capital is based in Boston.
"2010 was an exceptionally challenging year in the U.S. ATM market, with the Harkin Amendment threatening a wholly unrealistic and potential fatal cap on ATM fees, coupled with a reduction in crucial interchange revenue," said Mike Lee, ATMIA CEO. "The industry turbulence, which resulted from these measures, threw up some outstanding leaders who stood out above the crowd and helped steer us through stormy waters."
ATMIA will present the awards at its 12th annual U.S. conference and expo, February 22 to 24, 2011, at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa in Miami.
