Companion Systems, a North Salt Lake, Utah-based manufacturer of ATM and kiosk enclosures, has opened a second plant in South Carolina to better serve customers located on the East Coast.
The 30,000 square-foot factory is based in Lexington. Companion Systems' combined manufacturing plant space in Utah and South Carolina is 130,000 square feet. The South Carolina factory employs 40 metal fabrication, millwork assembly and signage workers.
The Lexington plant serves as the hub of Companion Systems' East Coast operations.
"We will be able to service our customers on the East Coast more efficiently, with better timing and product delivery," said Debbie Elcock, Companion Systems' marketing manager.
The Lexington factory means faster delivery and less expensive freight, said Al Tiley, president and CEO of Companion Systems. "It will be a win, win for our customers throughout the U.S.," he said.
Some of the company's major customers are Citibank, Bank of America, PNC Bank, JPMorgan Chase and Wells Fargo, Elcock said.
