California bank moves to mobile-banking platform

Bank of the West, a San Francisco-based financial institution, has signed a contract to employ ClairMail Inc.’s mobile-banking platform, said a ClairMail spokesperson.
Bank of the West customers will be able to access bank accounts through the mobile website and use SMS text messaging on virtually every mobile phone, the spokesperson said. Bank customers can monitor checking account balances, transfer funds between accounts and view transaction history. The platform also provides alerts for low balances and other events.
The mobile-banking platform enhances the bank’s customer service, said Phillip Rogers, who heads Bank of the West’s mobile-banking service.
“Mobile banking is poised to reshape the financial services industry so selecting the right solution is paramount to achieving our strategic mobile banking goal of delivering a new caliber of personalized service to our customers,” Rogers said. ClairMail is based in San Rafael, Calif.
