ATM Solutions offers reward for information about robbers

ATM Solutions Inc. Wednesday offered a reward of up to $150,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of four masked gunmen who robbed the company’s St. Louis office and warehouse before escaping in an armored truck with an undetermined amount of cash.
The reward offer, which was posted on the FBI’s St. Louis’ office website, said ATM Solutions also is seeking the recovery of the stolen money.
The FBI may have received its first break in the case. Agents yesterday arrested John W. Jones, a suspect in the daring daylight robbery, after $250,000 was found in the trunk of his Dodge Charger. News reports said some of the cash was flying around loose; other banknotes were packed in a suitcase.
The FBI booked Jones on an unrelated gun charge. “Any possible charges against Jones in the robbery of ATM Solutions will be determined by the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri after the FBI and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department complete their joint investigation,” said Rebecca Wu, an FBI spokesperson.
Four men, armed with pistols and automatic weapons, Monday robbed ATM Solutions’ offices at 5 a.m. when a security guard arrived for work, St. Louis police said. The robbers disarmed him and waited for a second security guard to show up. The robbers also took his gun. The gunmen then forced the security guards to open the safe. They tied up the guards before taking cash from the safe. Neither guard was hurt.
St. Louis police said the robbers took an undetermined amount of cash, but news reports said they escaped with $4 million to $5 million.
ATM Solutions, which is based in Cincinnati, services ATMs in Missouri, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee.
