Siemens Nixdorf announces U.S. deal for 1,000 ATMs
AUSTIN, Texas -- Siemens Nixdorf announced its biggest U.S. deal yet, the sale of 1,000 ProCash Compact ATMs to National Equipment Providers, LLC, a limited liability company headquartered in Ashland, Ore. NEP has a management agreement with International Technology Systems, Inc. (ITS) to manage, install, service and perform transaction processing for the ATMs. The machines will be deployed primarily at grocery and convenience stores. The first of these sites will be installed in December. Noting that advertising is a key component of NEP's business strategy, Chris Millar, managing director of NEP, said the larger screens, LCD/TFT technology and color graphics presentation capabilities of the Siemens ProCash ATMs, which are based on the Windows NT operating system and WOSA/XFS standards, make them especially well-suited for in-store advertising and vouchers. "The resolution on these screens is the quality of photographs as compared with the cartoon-like quality available on other systems evaluated," he said. Millar also mentioned the machines' software distribution capabilities and ability to support Internet and e-commerce applications such as ticketing and gift certificates. This is Siemens Nixdorf's first major deal following its purchase by a U.S. investment partnership in October. Pending regulatory approval, the company plans to begin operating independently as Wincor Nixdorf before the end of the year. According to a press release, Siemens Nixdorf also plans to announce a major deal with Citigroup at BAI's Retail Delivery in Miami Beach Dec. 7-9. NEP, which plans to develop turnkey product solutions for ATMs and cash ticketing machines, has agreements with management and service providers such as International Technology Systems, Inc. (ITS) and SPA Marketing, LLC.
