CSI, provider of data processing services and eBusiness solutions to nearly 600 banks in 20 states, will initially bring 175 community banks from across the Midwest into the PULSE network. All remaining CSI customers will have the opportunity to join the PULSE network on a case-by-case basis. Affected states include Kentucky, Indiana, Tennessee, Illinois, Ohio, Missouri, West Virginia and Michigan.
The conversion of CSI is expected to be finalized in early 2001. PULSE is one of the nation's leading shared electronic funds transfer networks, serving more than 2,000 banks, credit unions and savings and loans. The system links an estimated 45 million cardholders with more than 47,000 ATMs and 247,000 merchant locations throughout the United States.
"The involvement of CSI will complement other recent strategic steps intended to expand the geographic scope of the network," said Stan Paur, Pulse president and CEO. "Most importantly, the decision of CSI will result in additional options for financial institutions in the heart of the country."
PULSE has become well known in recent years as a resource for consumer research related to EFT services, and an effective national public policy voice on issues of importance to the financial industry.
