European cash-in-transit workers to be compensated for added euro effort

IRELAND -- European security workers have struck a deal to receive a maximum payment of £2,000 apiece for agreeing to work expanded and more flexible hours during the euro changeover, according to a report in ie.online.

Agreements have been reached on behalf of employees with the cash-in-transit companies Brinks and Securicor to provide smooth distribution of the new euro currency to banks and retailers over the next three months.

The agreements also provide that employees working on ATM operations on Jan. 1, 2002 will receive a special premium payment for all hours worked on that day.
