MILWAUKEE -- A Tomah, Wis. man who lost his card in an ATM was arrested after being accused of taking a tire iron to the machine to try to get it back, according to a report in the Milwaukee Journal.
Tomah police were called to the RIA Federal Credit Union on July 23 when bank officials reported seeing an unidentified man attempting to remove his card with a tire iron.
According to police reports, the 50-year-old man could not get the card out of the machine after completing a transaction.
He asked bank tellers if they could help him remove the card. When they told him they couldn't retrieve the card until 1 p.m. that day, he reportedly went to get the tire iron and try to get the card himself. The report says he admitted to the crime.
During a search before placing him in the squad car, officers discovered a small bag of marijuana in his pocket.
He was arrested on charges of damage to property and possession of marijuana.
The ATM sustained more than $800 worth of damage.
