CALIFORNIA -- A man who last week dropped his ATM card outside an Orinda bank he had allegedly just tried to hold up was arrested on June 11, police said.
Royland Rice of Berkeley was arrested on a warrant from the FBI on suspicion of attempted robbery, according to a report in the Contra Costa Times.
After the ATM card linked Rice to the June 4 attempted robbery of a Wells Fargo bank in Orinda, a witness that day identified the 47-year-old in a photo lineup, according to a federal affidavit for his arrest.
The 47-year-old is also under investigation in connection with several other robberies in the past eight to 10 months, including in Walnut Creek, Orinda, Berkeley and Oakland, FBI Agent Andy Black told the Contra Costa Times.
According to the affidavit, Rice has had two convictions for bank robbery.
East Bay Regional Park police officers nabbed King after noticing a red Honda Civic without current registration in a parking lot at East Shore State Park in Berkeley. Upon questioning, it was learned that the FBI was seeking Rice and he was arrested.
