TORONTO -- ING Direct Canada is offering ATM users who withdraw money from any of its machines located in Canadian Tire retail stores a chance to win $10,000 in cash.
The Toronto-based bank is using the giveaway to promote awareness of its ATMs, no easy task when competing with such big players as the Bank Of Montreal and Toronto Dominion Bank.
When individuals withdraw cash from an ING Direct ATM, a ballot will be attached to their receipts, which they will have to fill out and drop in the boxes placed near the machines. The contest, dubbed ABM Cash and Win, will run through July 4. In addition, the bank will also give away $1,000 to five winners as secondary prizes.
ING Direct's ATMs enable clients to withdraw both Canadian and U.S. dollars.
According to ING Direct, around 90 percent of Canadians visit Canadian Tire stores at least twice annually, and roughly 20 percent visit twice per month.
The bank also is promoting its ATMs via direct mail, television and radio ads.
