• Survey finds top ATM frustration

According to a new survey, trying to read an ATM screen in the sunlight tops consumers' list of frustrations at an ATM, as published in The Cincinnati Enquirer.

Synergistics Research Group, an Atlanta-based market research firm for financial services, asked 1,000 ATM users what bothers them most about their transaction time at the machines.

Forty-seven percent of the people surveyed said ATM screens were difficult to read, followed by 40 percent of consumers citing excessive fees as their main concern.

Other survey findings include:

32 percent - not enough ATM locations

·

25 percent - inadequate privacy

·

21 percent - not safe

·

18 percent - too slow

·

16 percent - screen too small

·

14 percent - print too small

·

13 percent - not enough activities

·

7 percent - buttons hard to use

According to the Enquirer, banks are deploying more ATMs, offering users more convenience while generating extra fees. ATM manufacturers are also upgrading ATMs to provide larger screens and increased functionality.
