ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Carl Karcher Enterprises, Inc. and eViva Group, Inc. will test the eViva! Quick Money Card, a new ATM and stored-value card geared toward Hispanics that does not require the consumer to have identification or a bank account, at a Carl's Jr. restaurant located in Huntington Park, Calif.
According to a news release, the reusable eViva! Quick Money Card, which can be "loaded" with value, can be purchased for $5 at the restaurant. Cardholders can load up to $750 a day at the restaurant or withdraw up to $300 daily via any Cirrus ATM. They can also use the card to make purchases at the restaurant and other participating retailers. Cardholders pay a $5 each time they load the card with value.
A PIN will be provided for instant cash access, but cardholders must call a toll free number to personalize the PIN for safety, and to register the card's account number, name and address in the event it is lost or stolen.
There are charges for each transaction from transferring funds card to card, as well as ATM withdrawal fees and a conversion exchange rate to foreign currency, which is set by MasterCard International. Charges are listed in the card packet's disclosure statement
If the cardholder wishes to transfer funds to family or friends, additional cards can be purchased and sent to recipients. Via the toll-free number, the sender determines how much of the cash deposit may be accessed by that cardholder. If money is being sent to more than one cardholder, additional cards may be purchased for $5 each and specific dollar amounts allocated for each card number.
"While the eViva! Quick Money Card was designed with the Latino community in mind, the card can be used by anyone," said Robert Acosta, chief executive officer of eViva Group. "It is perfect for payroll and direct deposit, college students, armed forces personnel and other entities and individuals who need to move money in a safe and convenient way through the ATM network."
West Suburban Bank of Chicago is the card issuer, and Metavante Corp. will provide transaction processing.
