LAS VEGAS -- Diebold on Nov. 30 introduced the 1075ix walk-up and 1077ix drive-up cash dispensers.
According to Bank Network News, off-premises ATMs increased from 67,000 units in 1997 to 84,000 units in 1998. Off-premises ATMs now represent 44.9 percent of the U.S. installed base, up from 26.3 percent in 1994.
The 1075ix, a freestanding, walk-up cash dispenser, is the only unit available that does not require a protective building or enclosure. The 1075ix also features a small footprint.
The 1077ix is a drive-up cash dispenser that can be installed in conventional through-the-wall locations, in freestanding enclosures or at non-traditional locations like self-service gas pump islands or fast-food pick-up lanes.
Thomas W. Swidarski, senior director, worldwide marketing at Diebold, said the new dispensers "feature all of the revenue-generating opportunities found in Diebold's popular ix Series ATMs including full-motion video capability, a large 15-inch color screen and the ability to dispense items other than cash."
The 1075ix and 1077ix will be available worldwide during the second quarter of 1999. Both dispensers are being displayed at BAI's Retail Delivery '98 conference in Las Vegas, Dec. 1-3.
