TOKYO -- Oki Electric Industry Co. has started marketing a multipurpose ATM that can be used for e-commerce transactions, according to the Nikkei Financial Daily.

The CP 21 terminal is equipped to perform as a typical bank, brokerage or insurance ATM, but it can also handle functions to settle new types of transactions, such as those done via smart cards, debit cards or electronic commerce.

CP 21 terminals feature a large screen to facilitate normal ATM use, as well as online shopping, data display and settlement of electronic credit- and debit-card transactions.
