Chinatrust Commercial Bank features FMV ads on Diebold ATMs

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Chinatrust Commercial Bank (CTCB) has installed 16 Diebold 1064ix cash dispensers in Massive Rapid Transit (MRT) BanNan Line stations throughout Taipei. The machines will present advertising and marketing messages to consumers via 15-inch color monitors.

This marks the first use of full-motion video (MPEG) advertising on Diebold machines in the Asia-Pacific region. In addition, customers will be able to purchase MRT and bus tickets at any of the 16 units. In the future, customers will be able to use credit cards to purchase tickets, in addition to using their bankcard.

To date, more than 15,000 transactions have been completed. Advertising campaigns have included printed coffee coupons and a drawing offering customers the chance to win a trip overseas. Both promotions are printed on the customer's receipt.

"This adds a new and relatively low-cost advertising channel. Even in crowded train stations, the large monitors featuring full-motion video commercials enable us to attract potential customers and increase awareness of Chinatrust's wide array of products and services," said Sean C.H. Hsueh, vice president of marketing and sales department at Chinatrust Commercial Bank.

Chinatrust also plans to use Diebold for remote monitoring and maintenance services. As part of its increasing focus on total customer solutions, Diebold offers the ability to monitor ATM status and activity, remotely update screen images and MPEG files and diagnose and troubleshoot ATM problems.
