LONDON -- The ATM Industry Association, in association with ATMmarketplace.com, has announced an international panel of judges to choose the winners of its new ATM Security Industry Awards -- the ATM Security Technology Award, ATM Security Best Practice Award and Award for Best Contribution to ATM Crime Reduction and Prevention -- next month.

According to ATMIA International Director Mike Lee said the panel of three judges is made up of independent people with recognized credibility in the field of security in the UK, Europe and the U.S.

The judges are: Bernard D'Hondt, vice president of European Security Transport Association (ESTA), an organization headquartered in Belgium and representing security transport companies across Europe and Britain, including cash-in-transit operators; Alan Townsend, crime prevention coordinator, Flying Squad, Metropolitan Police Services, New Scotland Yard, London; Chris E. McGoey, CPP, CSP, CPS, CAM, director of McGoey Security Consulting based in San Francisco, Calif.

"At a time when ATM crime and fraud is on the increase in many regions of the world, carried out in some cases by organized criminal gangs, these awards will provide recognition for exceptional achievements in the push to get crime and fraud to migrate out of the industry," Lee said.

The annual awards will be presented at "ATM Sec 2," ATMIA's second annual ATM security conference, which takes place at the International Suite of the Manchester United football club in England April 17-18.

The conference will tackle all aspects of ATM security, including physical security, cash security, data and electronic security, network security and card security.

The awards are for outstanding achievements in the time period 2001-2002. Companies and individuals are encouraged to submit both recommendations and applications for these awards. There is no cost involved.

All that is required is a written motivation (of between 500-1000 words) giving the reasons why a company or individual should be considered worthy of recognition for exceptional work in the three fields covered by the awards.

All submissions should reach Mike Lee by Friday, March 29. Only the names of the winners will be made public. Inquiries may be directed to Mike at mikelee@atmiaeurope.com
