HOUSTON -- PULSE, one of the nation's leading shared EFT networks, reported that its March volume reached a new all-time high. The network processed a total of 33,862,579 transactions emanating from ATMs and POS terminals operated by merchants. PULSE links more than 200,000 terminals with the consumer's bank, thrift or credit union and provides account settlement daily.
PULSE PAY, the network's on-line POS program, represented 42 percent of the network's volume. PULSE PAY enables consumers to pay for purchases and get cash back using their ATM card and PIN at major merchants such as Kroger, HEB, Walgreen's and Exxon, as well as smaller retailers.
"This latest data documenting usage growth reflects consumers' ever increasing attachment to and reliance on ATMs and POS services," said PULSE president and CEO Stan Paur.
PULSE is a not-for-profit, shared EFT network comprised of nearly 2,000 member banks, credit unions and thrifts in Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas. The network includes more than 30,000 ATMs and more than 177,000 POS terminals.
