FREMONT, Calif. -- Though Tranax Technologies has kept the price point low -- and sales high -- on its MiniBank 1000 cash dispenser by providing only one configuration to its distributors, the manufacturer is taking a different approach with its new MiniBank 1500.
Standard options on the 1500, which is billed as "the absolute best value in retail ATMs" on the Tranax Web site, will include a 6-inch monochrome LCD, combination lock, single 1,100-note capacity cassette and voice guidance capability. Upgrades will include a color screen, encrypted PIN pad, electronic locks and several different cassette and cash dispenser options. Twenty-four different configurations are possible, according to Tranax President Hansup Kwon.
Kwon said the MiniBank 1500 is his "most flexible" unit yet. "It can be a MiniBank 1000 or a MiniBank 2100 kind of machine, depending on how it's configured. We wanted to satisfy all product needs using one platform," he said.
With an encrypted PIN pad included, the MiniBank 1500 will satisfy all expected Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Triple DES requirements, according to Kwon. While other Tranax models can be upgraded to do so, Kwon said it would likely cost $500 to $700 plus labor costs to upgrade. Because of this, Kwon said it's likely that the MiniBank 1000 will eventually be phased out of the Tranax product line.
Tranax expects to begin volume shipments of the MiniBank 1500 on June 15.
