NEW ORLEANS -- Hibernia National Bank is giving away Blockbuster gift cards in an effort to encourage its customers to make deposits at ATMs.
The bank is offering its ATM/debit cardholders a chance to win gift cards from Blockbuster that will be good for one free rental per week for 26 weeks.
Customers will be automatically entered into a contest for the cards each time they deposit money into one of 45 Hibernia ATMs in the New Orleans area. The bank will select 25 ATM depositors to receive gift cards during the next month.
The gift card giveaway is part of Hibernia's continuing effort to increase ATM deposits.
In a presentation at the 2001 BAI Retail Delivery Show, Bill Arnold, the bank's vice president of ATM Delivery Channel Management, said the bank had increased the number of deposits by more than 2 percent by extending the cutoff times for same-day deposits and then promoting the service. Messages promoting the same-day deposit service appeared on ATM screens and receipts, in banner ads on the bank's Web site and on posters, table tents, fliers and teller receipts at branches.
During a three-month promotion, customers were entered in a contest every time they made a deposit at the ATM. The prize: Hibernia doubled the amount of two winning deposits a month, up to $500.
