De La Rue Cash Systems has today announced its partnership with Da Lian Commercial Bank, China, to implement the first ever kiosk bank in Asia. De La Rue will provide the Bank with their teller automation solutions and is expecting to have 3 fully operational trial sites by the end of 2002, within the Hua Chang branch network of the Bank. Da Lian Commercial Bank chose De La Rue as its partner for this project after conducting comprehensive research into branch automation solutions, including several sites visits, over a period of 6 months.
The Bank says that by investing in De La Rue 's Teller Cash Dispensing (TCD) technology, it can bring a friendly, welcoming and modern image to their network of branches. As well as enhancing the efficiency of their branches, one of the most important benefits to the bank is that the TCD's will now be responsible for dispensing cash to customers, therefore enabling tellers to spend more time with customers and promoting their other banking services, which in return will increase profits for the Bank.
As Mr. Liu Guo Kun, General Manager of the Da Lian Commercial Bank, Hua Chang branch said: "We have to follow the developments in the banking world. TCD technology is now widely used in US and Europe; and China will follow this trend eventually. We need to be well prepared to face the challenges of competition from foreign banks, with China now part of the World Trade Organisation."
