ATLANTA -- Dayton, Ohio-based NCR Corporation (www.ncr.com) announced at the BAI Retail Delivery Show in Atlanta, Nov. 6-7, that it is conducting field trials of the company's APTRA Personalization and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software for ATMs at two major financial institutions in the Asia-Pacific region and in North America. According to a release, the software was demonstrated at the show.
The APTRA Personalization and CRM software allows banks to deliver targeted messages and interactive services customized for each customer. The software is part of a broader APTRA suite of open software, enabling reuse of components and consistency across multiple channels such as call centers, the Web, telephone and bank branches.
NCR also demonstrated three configurations of its new Personas M Series ATMs that can be configured for drive-up, walk-up, cash-dispense and deposit combinations.
According to the release, more than 25,000 Personas 86 models have been installed in more than 60 countries in less than two years. Bob Tramontano, vice president of marketing and solutions realization for NCR's Financial Solutions division, said, "The thinking behind the Personas brand, and a key factor in its success, has been the delivery of more choice, flexibility and results."
Additionally, NCR reported the certification of its Encrypting PIN Pad (EPP) module to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9564-1 standard.
According to the release, the complete security offering combines a keyboard and encryption module, supports Triple DES and allows remote key distribution. NCR claims it is the first in the ATM industry to achieve this.
Johan Jubbega, general manager of convenience ATMs for NCR's Financial Solutions division, said, "We are convinced that having this certification differentiates us in the marketplace. There are many vendors who may offer Triple DES encryption, but conformance to the standards is what is really going to matter to independent sales organizations."
Jubbega added that a key benefit to deployers is the module's remote key distribution via RSA. "This is a huge operational cost saving in a retail environment. The cost of doing this securely in a remote environment without this technology is much higher than in a bank location."
