LEAWOOD, Kan. and ZAGREB, Croatia -- Euronet Worldwide, Inc. (NASDAQ: EEFT) has signed another ATM Recharge agreement, this time with Hrvatski Telekom (HT), the leading mobile phone operator in Croatia.
The agreement will enable HT's Simpa prepaid customers to purchase airtime at ATMs owned by Raiffeisenbank and Splitska Banka in Croatia.
Customers with HT Simpa prepaid service can purchase vouchers at 180 Raiffeisenbank and Splitska Banka bank-branded ATMs throughout the country, allowing them to recharge their mobile phone accounts. Customers' bank accounts are then debited for the amount of the voucher.
According to a news release, HT -- which has more than 1.1 million customers and 910,000 prepaid users -- is the second of two providers in Croatia to offer Euronet ATM Recharge Services. Euronet has a similar agreement with VIPnet.
Michael J. Brown, Euronet Worldwide's chairman and chief executive, said in the release that establishing partnerships with both Croatian carriers allows his company to offer recharge services to more than 1.7 million prepaid users throughout the country.
Georg Muendl, HT's CMO Mobile, said in the release, "Incorporating ATM recharge in our prepaid program includes expanding this service to ATMs operated by other banks using Euronet's processing center. This expansion enables even more subscribers to use this convenient solution."
According to the release, Euronet Recharge solutions have been deployed by both mobile operators and financial institutions throughout Europe, Middle East, Asia and the Americas, through ATMs, point-of-sale devices and mobile phones. The airtime recharge outsourcing solutions are processed through the Euronet Operating Center in Budapest, Hungary.
