Reston, VA -- Transaction Network Services (TNS), a provider of data communications services for transaction-oriented applications, is introducing TransXpress® Secure, which will enable ATM operators and retail merchants with point-of-sale terminals to access TNS' private transaction data network via the Internet, through their transaction processors.
The service reduces security concerns associated with the Internet by providing a secure path between the client device (such as an ATM) and the TransXpress® Secure gateway SSL server, according to a news release. It uses industry-standard Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption methodologies, in addition to the dial-up and dedicated-line access methods already in place.
With TransXpress® Secure, processors can enable ATM operators and retail merchants to use their existing Internet connections provided by local Internet Service Providers (ISPs). TransXpress® Secure requires an IP connection from the client-side devices (Web server, IP PoS, or IP ATMs) through the Internet, according to the release.
"We recognize that many merchants are using the Internet to meet their communications needs, and with TransXpress® Secure they can now leverage their existing infrastructure for secure credit and debit authorizations," said Larry Crompton, senior vice president and general manager of TNS' POS Division, in the release.
"Now any merchant with an ISP connection can access TNS' secure, private network without adding another communication path into its organization. Similarly, at the host end, the processor can use their existing TNS connection. This translates into reduced network communication costs and faster transactions through an always-on connection."
