LONDON, and DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. -- Mosaic Software says that GE Consumer Finance, a unit of General Electric Company that provides credit services to consumers, retailers and auto dealers in more than 35 countries, will expand the use of Mosaic's Postilion EFT platform worldwide within two years.
The success of the first two Postilion installations for GE Consumer Finance's businesses in the UK (2001) and Thailand (2002) resulted in a commitment from GE Consumer Finance to roll out Postilion services in Indonesia, Poland, Hungary and Mexico by the end of 2004, according to a news release.
Postilion is used to perform stand-in authorization for GE's PaySys VisionPLUS host systems. Transactions are currently routed from retail facilities worldwide to the Postilion system in either Thailand or the UK for verification and approval. Once other countries adopt the new system, consumer transactions will be routed to the Postilion server closest to the country of orgination.
According to the release, Postilion is positioned between point of sale terminals and ATMs and GE Consumer Finance's credit card processing mainframe host systems. If there's a technical problem that's preventing an approved transaction from being processed by the host, Postilion "stands in" and takes over the authorization process.
