FREMONT, Calif. -- The Tranax Mini-Bank 1500 and 2500 ATMs will be featured in a commercial titled "ATM" to promote Mercedes-Benz's new C-Class Sedan.
According to a news release, Mercedes-Benz and Food Chain Films filmed the ad earlier this month in a three-day shoot in San Francisco, culminating with a segment including the ATMs at the San Francisco Maritime Museum.
According to the release, representatives from Food Chain Films approached Tranax Technologies regarding the use of their ATMs because of their sleek designs, which the company said best reflected the Mercedes image.
David Sicotte, production art director for Food Chain Films, said in the release, "(Tranax's) unique and modern designs were a perfect fit for the image Mercedes required that we portray."
The "ATM" plot centers on the affordability of the C-Class line of vehicles, according to the release. The purchase of a C-Class Sedan leaves a "husband" with enough money to afford the typically expensive San Francisco lifestyle -- including visits to ATMs.
The commercial is scheduled to air in Northern California in February 2003.
While this is the first appearance of Tranax ATMs on film in 2003, the company's machines made appearances in both the movie "Barbershop" and the now-defunct ABC TV series "MDs" in 2002. At this rate, Tranax may have to get an agent.
