ONTARIO, Calif. -- Gene Polito, the Co-Op Network's executive vice president and chief operating officer since joining the network in February of 2000, has been promoted to president of EFT Services.

According to a news release, Polito's promotion is part of a reorganization that establishes two lines of business for the Co-Op: EFT and shared branching.

Polito, who possesses 25 years of banking and credit union industry experience including helping to found New Mexico's CU Anytime Network, will handle the day-to-day operations of the EFT business as well as represent the company at industry events and public activities.

Dan Balagna, the president and chief executive of Southfield, Mich.-based Service Centers Corporation, which was acquired by Co-Op in June of 2002, will continue to serve in those roles and will also serve as Co-Op's president of Corporate Subsidiaries.

Jim Hanisch, the Co-Op's chief information officer, will continue with his current responsibilities and will also assist with special projects in a new role as executive vice president/assistant to the CEO.

"Gene Polito and Jim Hanisch have been integral parts of Co-Op Network's recent record growth, and Dan Balagna has been a pioneer in shared branching. With this type of experience and talent on our management team, I'm confident Co-Op Network will continue to reach new heights for years to come," said Robert Rose, the Co-Op's chief executive, in the release.

Also as part of the reorganization, other members of the management team will include: Tobye Stein, senior vice president/chief Human Resources officer; Beth Meyers, executive vice president of Finance; and Leigh Marciniak, senior vice president of Marketing and Network Support.

Additionally, Eric Porter has been promoted to Co-Op's executive vice president of National Sales and Business Development.
