LONG BEACH, Miss. -- Triton is introducing two new ATMs, the RL5000 Series and FT5000 Series, that are based on the Windows Intel X Scale platform.

According to a news release, the X Scale operating system will provide increased stability and improved speed. It also supports Windows file formats for adding custom logos and advertisements.

Both machines, which will begin shipping in July, also feature Triton's custom designed motherboard.

Brian Kett, president of Triton, said in the release, "These new models provide our customers with a platform that allows for flexibility in offering more services and capabilities on the ATM platform like Triton Waves."

The RL5000 Lobby Series has a 10.4 inch color LCD screen and will be available with a range of dispenser options that Triton says will enable owners to select the mechanism best suited to a location's traffic and volume.

The FT5000 Series, Triton's first through-the-wall ATM, can be used as a walk-up or drive-up unit. According to the release, it is fully weatherized for outside installation and includes an optional sunlight-readable screen.

The units are appropriate for both retail and financial institution deployers, according to the release, because operational costs can be adjusted depending on which mechanism, note cassette and communications offerings are selected.

Standard features include the 10.4 inch color LCD screen and an 80-millimeter thermal printer presenter. Both units include a USB device port for connection of devices such as a laptop, four USB master ports for slave devices that enable easier and faster download of advertising screens, and two PC card slots that support devices such as a PCMCIA 56k-baud modem.

According to the release, both models meet all current and proposed ADA regulations with text-to-speech audio capability, and have an encrypting pin pad (EPP) to fulfill Triple DES requirements.
