LONG BEACH, Miss. -- Triton says it will provide its customers with an upgrade path for all of its existing ATMs, including the first-generation 9500.
"Rather than forcing customers to purchase new ATMs to comply with Triple DES regulations, Triton will offer its customers the option of upgrading their current equipment rather than purchasing new equipment, depending on their needs," said Brian Kett, Triton's president, in a news release. "Although most manufacturers are not offering upgrade paths for all their
equipment, we at Triton believe that it's important to provide our customers with cost-effective and painless options for compliance."
For the 9500, Triton will offer a retrofit kit, the RL1500, which will provide a 5.7-inch color screen, Encrypting Pin Pad (EPP) and software to meet Triple DES requirements. The upgrade to the unit also includes audio capabilities to comply with proposed Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations.
According to the release, the kit will be available in the fall of 2003 at a "minimal" cost. With the kit, deployers will reuse the existing ATM cabinet, dispenser and power supply.
Tommy Glenn, president of Financial Technologies Inc., an ISO with a large estate of
Triton 9500s, said in the release, "This is a good example of Triton responding to their customers' needs by protecting the owner's original investment and providing new paths for compliance."
At least two other ATM manufacturers, GTI and WRG Services, are also offering upgrade kits for Triton's 9500.
According to the release, the Triton upgrade kit maintains Triton's original certifications.
Triton also has Triple DES upgrade kits for its Mako and 9600 Series, both of which are available today.
